Does power corrupt?
Yes, I think power does corrupt. What do you think? Have you ever felt that someone that has power or is stronger than you is controlling you to get into wrong things or bad things.
Some people have the power and sometimes they get away with their power. Then that person starts doing bad things and that person is a person that doesn’t do that. People that have the power get away with it and don’t do what is right and do the opposite. The pigs from Animal Farm had the power to write and used it to do the seven commandments which are good. Then, with the power the pigs had done nothing that means that the pigs didn’t have to work on the farm. The other animals had to do all the work. That shows that power can corrupt. That

Like when the animals found out that the pigs were sleeping in beds, eating from a kitchen, and using the farmhouse for recreation, they did not take a stand to make things right or make equality among the animals. Instead they stood back and let the pigs get what they wanted, they did this not because the pigs were smarter, but they knew chaos would be among them if they did rebel and the pigs would win, they're trapped in an unfair dystopia. “Boxer passed it off as usual with "Napoleon is always right! ", but Clover, who thought she remembered a definite ruling against beds, went to the end of the barn and tried to puzzle out the Seven Commandments which were inscribed there. Finding herself unable to read more than individual letters, she fetched Muriel.” This quote comes from right after the animals find out the pigs are sleeping in beds and using the farmhouse, as you can see animals like Boxer (Horse) pass up on rebelling and say that Napoleon is right.…

As life on Animal Farm progresses, the animals see no change as to how they are treated, the amount of work they have to do, and the rations of food they get. Their only solace is they are a group of animals leading themselves, with no human to guide and direct them. However, the animals begin to feel uneasy when Snowball is kicked out of the farm by Napoleon’s dogs. Yet, the manipulation continues by the pigs, in order to keep the animals in the dark. Squealer makes the animals believe that Napoleon is making a great sacrifice in taking the leadership responsibilities upon himself and that, as the cleverest animal, he serves the best interest of all by making the…

“Clover, who thought she remembered a definite ruling against beds, went to the end of the barn and tried to puzzle out the Seven Commandments which were inscribed there. Finding herself unable to read more than individual letters, she fetched Muriel” (Orwell 45). The inability to read proves to be a significant liability to the advancement of Animalism, the philosophy of the animals residing in Animal Farm. This makes the animals easy to cheat, and easy to convince. With Squealer to spread propaganda to further the pigs’ agenda, the pigs take the farm animals’ illiteracy to their advantage by changing the commandments written on the wall.…

This also shows that the leaders show no regard for the animals lives because of how easily they kill so many of them. Both the animals’ and the leaders are being very hypocritical by doing this because the seventh commandment of Animal Farm states “7. All animals are equal” (Orwell…

This doesn’t follow the commandments “all animals are equal" and “no animal shall kill another animal”. Boxer had no idea about his soon to be fate. The pigs were in contact with humans, they had to contact the knackers to come collect Boxer and get rid of him, for the exchange of money. He now was useless to the farm. This breaks the commandment “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.” The saying that is said throughout the storyline “two legs bad, four legs good!” Which is also broken and gets changed later to “four legs good, two legs better!” These are the 7 commandments, before and after they were changed to suit the pig’s new lifestyle ways.…

Even though in theory communism is equal, it plays out differently in the book. Since the pigs and dogs are educated, they are not forced to do any of the labor work. They claim that they cannot do the physical work because they are doing all of the “mental” work. The other animals work for tremendous hours, and are manipulated into thinking that they are working fewer hours than before the revolution. In democracy, everyone is treated equally under the law.…

Old Major’s idea of animalism was similar to communism, and likewise promised a haven where every animal was equal, and no repression in sight. These ideas were soon corrupted when the people and animals realized that they needed leaders. But these new leaders didn’t lead, they dominated. The pigs of Animal Farm come into power after revealing that they “have been teaching themselves to read and write from an old spelling book which had belonged to Jones’ children, and which had been thrown upon the rubbish heap”(23, 2). This created a divide in the intelligence and skill sets between the other animals and pigs. In both Russia and it’s fictional allegory the leaders were put into power by individuals who believed that they weren’t as intelligent…

Once Napoleon ran Snowball out, the first thing he did was take the idea of the windmill and make it his own. During his reign on the farm he used propaganda to make the other animals believe he was a good leader. He had one pig named Squealer who always said “Napoleon is always right,” (page 49). Napoleon changed most of the rules that Snowball had made when he was leader. Napoleon did not agree with the animals having resting days so he took away Sundays and made them into working days.…

They are doing protests against the pigs way to rule but they gets detected and punished with death, therefore they changed one of the laws which was that they are not killing other animals. The characters are realistic in some ways because they are depicted of real people from the revolution, they are also doing things that some people in the world unfortunately does, terrible things, like rule a society but don’t care about the lower class. They are also not realistic because they are animals and talks, reads, writes and builds. Orwell does not really describes the society in the book very detailed, he describes the basic things, or example where they are, but not much more. The book is, as I said, a satire about the…
