When we first came to America we oppressed Indians by making them slaves and stealing their land and pushing them further and further west. MAny of the indians died just from people relocating them to a different area. So many indians died on the trail that they called it the trail of tears because of all the sorrow and despair that came from leaving their home land. To us there were not equal and our ancestors made sure they knew that. This has a lasting effect today because there isn't as many people who are part indian as many as there could have been. The situation might have been able to turn out different but it probably wouldn't of because they were considered lesser compared to us.
There is a movie that came out a while ago while ago that I believe probably happened often when slavery was more known. The movie is called 9 years a slave and was made by John Ridley. This film relates to a situation that had happened quite often. In the film it goes through the life of a man who was kidnapped and forced to do labor work for 9 years.
