The soft cry of a premature baby born 8 weeks early as they inhale their first gasp of air. The frantic rush of nurses scattered about incredibly busy cleaning, warming and measuring the 28 week old baby. The calming presence of an experienced doctor watching over the preemies and preforming the proper procedures. The anxious grandparents watching the clock begging for good news from the doctor, praying for a healthy and nourished baby. The exhausted mom and stressed dad waiting silently in hopes of hearing their baby cry or over hear a wave of good news. The NICU. The main part of the NICU involves the nurses, present every hour of the day every day nurses give the babies exceptional. The nurses have experienced many things throughout their career that I have not been able to experience yet, not to mention the schooling and what it was like to get their first nursing job. At first it was intimidating to talk to them and work with them because they all acted to professional and stressed out. Also I was nervous to interact with them because I did not want to get in the way of them taking care of the babies. After a couple months of interacting with the NICU nurses my feelings towards them changed. The nurses and very nice and extremely helpful with every single thing you may need help with. After a while they were not intimating at all and they happen to be some of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Overall working with the nurses was a learning experience I will treasure for the rest of my life and after interacting with them my perception of nurses has forever been …show more content…
The NICU has many stories, hopes and dreams ranging from parents praying their baby survives, to I hope I can pay for all these bill. From nurses praying they can save and treat every baby, to hoping more babies reach full term. From doctors praying each delivery ends in success, to hoping mom and baby both come out of the delivery alive. It can be implied by the aforementioned reasons above that while working in the NICU I was able to experience all kinds of people all who have had different experiences than
