What is mercy killing? Would you kill your best friend if they asked? Would you kill them to save them from a worse death? In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, there is a scene at the end of the book that leaves everyone wondering was it mercy killing or murder? What George did was murder because Lennie never asked to die, George did help Lennie by doing that and George should still get punished.

Did Lennie ever ask to die and did he purposely get in trouble? When Lennie was in the barn and Curley’s Wife came in he told her, “Well, I ain’t supposed to talk to you. George’s scared I’ll get in trouble.”(87) Lennie was trying to stay out of trouble but Curley’s Wife was making that hard to do because she wouldn’t leave him alone. It
