Management and leadership are an important factor to consider in the early years setting, although managers and leaders can be seen to have similar roles. Management and leadership have different characteristics, according to Rodd (2006) leadership is defined as having a particular goal for the individual’s environment and setting different standards and expectations for colleagues in order to provide a successful environment.
This is important for early years setting in order for a setting to be outstanding leaders, managers and practitioners need to work together in order to improve children’s development and the setting environment.
