These two preventable diseases may not seem easy to defeat, but changing environments that induce people to be unhealthy would have a great impact. The way that CRH plans to combat obesity for children and adults relies on their compliance along with the environments they are in during their days. For example, ways to prevent and get ahead of childhood obesity is to enact early child-care and get the schools to join the fight (Bassett Healthcare Network, n.d.). At CRH the hospital wants to take an initiative to prevent tobacco use among youth and young adults, along with people in low socioeconomic status (Bassett Healthcare Network, n.d.). Most buildings in New York are smoke free within 50-100 feet of the building, while on college campus’ there is no smoking and they are smoke free campus’. Because we want to lower and prevent young smokers making punishments harsher when a person is caught smoking near schools, colleges or business, young people may think twice and prevent young smokers. If we also look at laws like the age a person has to be to buy cigarettes, then how are underage children and young adult obtaining them? A solution might be to make prosecute the person for providing the cigarette to the child, which in turn would discourage them to buy the cigarettes for the young adults and the low income people. Cigarettes are just one preventable disease among many that health care providers and communities need to take a stand on and
