Our nation's history has seen a case such as this one. On October of 1919, Congress thought alcohol was seen as a destructive force in families and marriages, so they passed the National Prohibition Act, which had guidelines attributing to the prohibition of alcohol. The whole decade after that was famous for its bootleggers and ones who went against the prohibition law (history.com staff). This can be easily put in the perspective of guns. If our society were to get rid of guns completely, what happened during prohibition times will happen again. If guns we gotten rid of there would be no way for the government to track down all firearms across the country. This will lead to people having guns hidden and in the end prompting violence. If someone realizes one may have something they don't have, they will try and take it from he or she, in any way possible. It would be like they never got rid of them because there would be violence just like before guns were banned. When people know they're not supposed to do something, like own guns, it only makes them want to do it, have them and use them more. That was proved when the government tried to ban alcohol. On the other hand, there are other nations that have gotten rid of guns and done so successfully. The United Kingdom and Japan both have a ban on guns. Things …show more content…
Using them in a good way can save lives, however using them in a bad way can destroy lives. Because of this it can be a tricky subject matter to discuss. As you can see, gun control laws are particularly distinct to nations around the world. Choosing whether or not to ban guns is a decision within state that can greatly affect their respected nations no matter the choice made. Having provided evidence and support to my claim on gun control, it is evident that without guns our world would be chaos but with guns it's just as bad. “Evil cannot be fully exterminated from our lives” (Gillespie) therefore finding a happy medium is needed for the well being of our nation at large. Maintaining the issue rather than doing away with it will provide a more reasonable solution. Therefore, rather than completely ridding our society of guns it's necessary for us to take a look at our laws and enhance the process in which people attain guns. This in turn will form a more peaceful society for our next generations of children to live in and
