One of the many duties of a public school system is to ensure that its graduates grow to be responsible, contributing members of society. An important facet of model citizenship is the respect of both public and private property. However, it has become increasingly evident that some students lack this respect – specifically, towards school property. Though there are many different methods of solving the issue of student-made graffiti, the school board should approach the problem by both disciplining offenders and making the student body aware of the consequences of vandalism.
