Environmentalism means concerns about and action aimed at protecting the environment. In numerous regions, Australia's mild zones and waterfront biological systems have been broadly changed, and many wetlands have been ruined. Every single day we contribute to the destruction of the environment. Many products from big name brand such as MacDonald's and Coca-Cola are palm oil users. In 2011, 54 million tons worth of palm oil was used. Many animals have to leave their homes or be killed. We are not just contributing to deforestation, we are also contributing to pollution, global warming, and many more environmental issues. The Catholic Church has spoken strongly about the environmental issues, but there aren't many organisations that have put …show more content…
Environmentalism has been a part of Christian living as early as the bible was written. Through Catholic Social Teaching and the encyclicals, the Church continues to educate and encourage Catholics and others to take care of the environment and make positive changes. Stewardship of creation is a Catholic Social Teaching and the theological belief is that humans are responsible for the world and should take care of it. In the bible, in Exodus 19:5-6 it says, 'Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel." What we have done to change the environment prompts us to stop and think about how we live on our planet. It is the world's poorest communities who are affected by changes to our planet. As seen in Figure 8 above, Eco Logical Australia recommends the placement of 20 road signs in areas deemed to be high risk. These areas were chosen by analysing the green lines which indicate a high risk road. The overall cost of a sign includes production, installation, and maintenance. This information was extremely difficult to obtain, therefore an estimate has been created. The base cost for a wildlife warning sign is $175 (Seton, 2017).…

The idea that the production of certain foods or fibres in Australia needs to be more sustainable is a very simple concept that can be accomplished. This goal can be accomplished by using sustainable practices and raising the importance of the environment whilst producing the food or fibre. Grape production for example is quite a sustainable practice as the farming of grapes themselves don’t have a negative impact on the environment. The grapes however are very sensitive compared to other fruits meaning there are certain requirements that must be met. If these requirements aren’t met the grapes will often be considered ‘worthless’ and the resources used went to waste.…

Baumann has the tricky task of imploring Christians to seek an ethical stance on the environment in this week’s reading. The Genesis tradition with all of its misguided usage of the word “dominion” has given rise to the present state of God’s creation. The unceasing industrialization is a clear example of the misuse of human dominion of the world. She points out that it is the top 1/3 of the world’s wealthy who have and continue to benefit from “free pollution” as they deny recompense to the lower 2/3 who suffer the most from the destruction of environment (p. 223). Reformulating the notion of dominion from “control” to “responsibility” as the Creator originally intended.…

Climate change has been a long-term global issue that requires collective global action in the form of flexible yet stable policy implementation by the global actors. As a global actor, Australia’s approach and commitments to action on climate change, has been considered as inconsistent and lacking in direction (Talberg, Hui & Loynes, 2013). Nevertheless Australia’s climate reputation has not always been a negative one, in the early 1990’s Australia’s reputation was even seen as pro-environmental when the labor government “appointed an Ambassador for the environment, sent experts to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), passed the Ozone Protection Act 1989 and committed Australia to stabilise greenhouse gas emissions at 1988…

As a Christian, we believe that God created the universe and we, as people are his stewards therefore, we must take care of Gods precious creation; all of earth. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son.” This shows us that the Lord is the redeemer of all things and it is extended farther than just humans. Billy Graham speaks about the Christian faith and interacting with the environment along with many other scholars and different organizations that work specifically with different faith groups and the environment. First off, Billy Graham uses Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”…

There are endless problems with the environment and the big scheme of things is very overwhelming to those who want to solve the issues, in turn, nothing is done to solve the problems. “The Environmental crisis: The Devil is in the Generalities” by Ross McKitrick explains how the result of the generalization of the word environment causes people to believe the world is always in an environmental crisis. McKitrick’s essay is effective in displaying the overall effects of generalizing the word environment. His two main concerns and insightful views on who to blame for such environmental crisis’ make his argument valid and compelling. The overall idea of being “pro-environmentalist” is great and McKitrick touches on how people do want…

As a Christian, I know that this is not what God intended for the world. After God created the earth and all its wildlife He made the first man, Adam. On this day, God gave man the sworn duty of protecting the earth as its created order. After several thousand years, I believe it is safe to say that we have not lived up to that duty. In fact, we have pushed away from it.…

Many people justify their life choice through with their religion. This can be seen in all aspects of their life. One does not need to go far to see people condemning environmentalists for believing in global warming. This policy helps protect the habitat for future generations and does not interfere with the liberty of the people. In today’s society people has taken care of the environment in a different way. If God created the world and everything that goes along with it; then we as followers of God, Don’t we need to treat the world the way God would want us to? In Psalms 24:1-2 NIV it says “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.” How funny that not just people, but Christians themselves treat the world with such mocking and disrespect towards the environment. God had put his trust in us so that we could take care his treasures on this earth, and pass on the teaching towards our children from generations to generations.…
