Sports became very popular because almost everyone was looking for a way to make some extra money. Boxing, football, and baseball were among the most popular sports in the 1930’s. During the depression, tickets to almost any sporting event were particularly cheap at the time, which allowed many more people to go and watch a sporting event to get away from the depression. Boxing was very popular because the amount of people that were trying to make it big and become wealthy. Professional football was not as nearly as popular back then as it is today since there were not as many professional teams. College football was at an all time high in popularity since it brought many communities together and there were colleges all across the country that would play each other. On the other hand, professional baseball was very popular. At the time, the MLB had some of its best players such as Joe Dimaggio, Babe Ruth, and Bill Terry. Although people had multiple sources of entertainment, various new things were created for entertainment and more. Cars were getting new upgrades such as heaters and radios. Material such as silk was often used because of its ability to elegantly complement the body by clinging to it. Evening gowns were slimmest at the waist and widest at the legs and feet.
