As a child growing up, the main character, Equality mentions that “we learned the earth is flat, the sun revolves around it which causes the day and the night. We learned the names of all the winds that blow over the seas and push the sails of our great ships. We learned how to bleed men to cure them of all ailments.” (23) Almost all the information Equality learned growing up in school was a lie. In order to learn Equality had to get past all the false info he learned in school, the government's lies, and had to run away where no one else goes to think on his own. Luckily for Equality, there was a house waiting with many books and new objects to study and learn about. Now the question rises again. Will teachers someday not allow students to ask questions?
