But direct care nurses are more scrutinized because they are with the client’s 98% of the time. As the summary of our lesson states, “patients are counting on us” (Chamberlain College of Nursing, 2016). This is our duty to make sure that their needs are met and they are free from harm and injuries at all times. Effective communication, collaboration, teamwork, and a safe therapeutic environment are the qualities that I look for when I am admitted as a patient.
