Through out the novel Marguerite is faced with many adversities which she must overcome. These challenges shape her personality, and make her stronger. She uses wit, power and courage to stand up to the problems she faces. Many of her issues are based around what is excepted of her and how she disagrees with the stereotypes but on her life. When she is a young girl she escapes the castle to go and play in the fields with the boys but they say “Girls are not allowed, you would only cry at the first sign of blood.” She doesn’t agree with this statement and responds almost instantaneously, “The first drop of blood will be yours.” This shows her courage.
