In our society today it is very rare when we see any type of collective effort among our communities. Everyone is stuck doing their own things, matter of fact in today's society you can be struggling with something surrounded by a lot of people watching and wouldn’t move a finger to try and help. Collective effort has a process there are things that us the people are required to act on. In the book Tribe by Sebastian Junger tells us the steps, process and timeline of collective effort. Junger argues that most foreign countries tend to have less percentage of suicidal rates and live humble but happy than here in the United States. Junger also says that there is a high chance of collective effort being practiced in countries that have been …show more content…
It was heartbreaking for majority of people but especially for the people who were under the protection of that program. It was recommended to get as many signatures as possible so the president plus the council officials could see how many people were against that removal of the program. My whole community and myself started to divide ourselves to go and collect as much signatures as we could. It was challenging but there was hope that with a lot of signatures council officials would see that the program was indeed useful to many of the people under the care of that program. Majority of the people in my community were under the DACA care and seeing them depressed and worried about the situation gave us a even more bigger reason on why we need to collaborate together and see what possibilities we had to try and make a change. Although we collected more than 5,000 signatures DACA was still removed, but a lot of us are glad we didn’t stop fighting for what we believed was the right thing to do throughout the whole process, now as a community we are all united more than ever supporting all DREAMERS to try anything to help them get their program …show more content…
People in our society today only think about themselves. It takes a whole community a whole group to come together and make an effort and work together to have positive results. Although I do believe that MAYBE in some really important occasions that instinct may kick-in in every person to make a big movement together as one. Culturally I wouldn’t think it would be possible because many things are being forgotten in every culture. As generations pass the elderly are sticking with their cultural beliefs as the young people are not being taught about their culture so the traditions start to fade

In the book, Rhoden explains that the title came from something a white spectator said to Larry Johnson during a basketball game in Los Angeles. In The Divide, Matt Taibbi conveys to the reader the different, and often overlooked, side of policing. Taibbi argues that large cities started arresting anyone who looked suspicious or may have committed a crime. Even though violent crimes and felonies had decrease, New York's mayor Rudy Giuliani created a policing system where anyone could be stopped without probable cause. Taibbi states that police began to "fan out into neighborhoods like commercial fisherman, throwing nets over whole city blocks and making as many arrests as they could.…

I am a member of the Hispanic Student Association as well as Voto Latino in my university. Through these organizations I have had the opportunity to help with events put on for our Hispanic community. The night before D.A.C.A. was repealed, I helped make 100 protest signs to use in a quiet protest organized by the Voto Latino. We had a lot of faculty members, students, and people in the community come out and support us. Although we were all devastated with the news, we protested in silence for over 3 hours.…

A group of students known as the Dream Act 5 practiced civil disobedience by staging a sit in inside senator McCain’s office in Tucson, Arizona in May 7, 2010. Three of the students remind me of Thoreau when he got arrested for defying the government laws for not paying his poll tax, but instead these students were switching to civil disobedience to support other students brought to the United States illegally. Henry Thoreau thought that people should live under what they believed in and not by the government rules. Like these dreamers believe that this is also a home of opportunity where they can continue with a college education. According to William Perez, The DREAMers are children of illegal immigrants.…

Though free thinkers, brilliant scientists, philosophers, and artists are essential to the progression of society, one cannot overlook the importance of cooperation. Without cooperation, the individual pursuits of humanity’s great minds remain contained within their respective circles. A clear picture of a society that deteriorates due to such selfishness can be found in The Lord of the Flies, a novel by William Golding. Stranded on a deserted island, a group of young schoolboys must work together and establish a society that is reliable, structured, and dependable. Individuals are expected to contribute to the overall survival of the group by completing necessary tasks, such as tending to a fire, building shelter, and collecting fresh drinking water.…

The television was blaring, with an inaudible voice of a reporter; I repeatedly heard my name being called by aunt. I was brought back from my short haze, and read the headline on the television, “Trump’s Administration Ends DACA,” chills ran through my body as I re-read the headline. I knew what that meant for me, I was back to square one, and the risks I took to acquire DACA status were now again in front of me, nevertheless the government now knew of my legal status and that of my family, putting not only me at risk of deportation, but also potentially my guardians. Once I came to my senses, I urgently asked my aunt, “What can we do?” She replied with a dreadful expression, “I don’t know.”…

The implementation of the deferred action policy has relieved the fear of deportation of some eligible undocumented immigrants. To request deferred action, an individual must file Form I-821D and Form I-765 for employment authorization. This process has been brought forward by the administration as a result of the recognition for undocumented immigrants. Through this process, individuals who came to the United States at a very small age or before their 16th birthday could request DACA. However, the DACA program process does not grant legal status to the recipients and is not a path to American citizenship and it is only a temporary relief where the dreamers may not be deported for two years.…
