The play Romeo and Juliet is debated on whether it is fate or personal choice. In the play Romeo and Juliet By William Shakespeare the main characters kill themselves because of their forbidden love. Their family's history of fighting prevents Romeo and Juliet from being together.
Personal choice has a greater impact on the characters in the play than fate. Romeo makes poor decisions when finding out what happened to Juliet. After Romeo hears Juliet is dead,he rushes out to buy poison “come,cordial and not poison,so with me to Juliet’s grave” (Shakespeare 268). Romeo can’t live without Juliet so he buys poison to be with her in the afterlife. Romeo first hears of Juliet's death”well,Juliet i will lie with thee tonight.” (Shakespeare 267).
