The debate heightens when it comes to referring to abortion as a form of birth control. Since the overall legalization in 1973, over 57 million unborn babies have been killed, which is more than to population of Spain. That is one every twenty-four seconds. Abortion is wrong because it is not simply a personal choice, but a grave offense against God and His creation. There are many benefits to abortion, such as population control, and the tissue from aborted fetus’ that have been donated by the mothers can also be used to help scientists develop treatments for various diseases. Some could argue that the fetus is not necessarily a person, but personhood starts when the child becomes viable, or is able to survive outside the womb, the fetuses are incapable of feeling pain when most abortions are performed, and that the option of abortion should be legalized because women who are denied abortion are more likely to suffer mental health problems rather than women who are granted terminations.
