Reflection Paper In Social Work

I must say that this one of the most challenging classes in the entire social work curriculum, but I cannot sum up the appreciation I have for this policy class. I have grown both personally and professionally. I find myself appreciating and exploring every aspect of the world. I have moved beyond my limited scope of thinking and I believe I will be more effective in the field. However, this week’s reading on the role and standing of women within our world helped me grasp how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to pursue an education. From a Westernized perspective, there are many barriers that are still being manifested throughout our structural institutions; however, there are laws and policies in place that protect our rights as women. Even when we cannot have a direct impact, we can become knowledgeable by reviewing documents such as UNIFEM. We have to join advocacy groups and attend workshops to ensure we remain competent. Further, we must acknowledge their strengths, resiliency, and empower them by showing our concern by making sure that all women of all races and ethnicities feel socially included and not excluded. ` I can write five reaction papers on women and gender oppression because it is a very relevant topic in social work. There are so many issues that plague women. I strongly believe that our homes, our social institutions, communities, and societies are built on the back of a woman.
