ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN ENHANCING THE EDUCATION QUALITY OF TARUC STUDENTS

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
In field of education, teachers and students prefer to meet and discuss in class for conducting the learning and teaching process by using face-to-face approach, before social media had been us in the education purpose. After the invention of the internet, teachers and students start to use internet for their teaching and learning process. For example, college and university will build up an internal intranet as the tool to share the teaching material to the students. But, it is just the one-way communication. In order to achieved the two-way communication between the teachers and student. Teachers start to use social media in teaching.

Social media had become a need to students. There are several type of social media that always used by students for different purpose. Social media create a lot of platform to students in their learning process. Students need this platform for learning activities like do research, gather information, and other. So, it is important to find out the type of social media platform that will able to enhance the learning process of TARUC students.
RO2: To find out the function of different type of social media in enhancing the education quality of TARUC students. Different types of social media have their own different function to help TARUC students’ learning process. For example, YouTube is the content community and the video (content) inside this platform will able be the learning material for TARUC students. So, this research is wanted to find out and identify the specific function for education of the social media that will able help the students in their learning process.

So, in this research this theory will able to help us to find us the role of social media to the perspective of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College students. This theory highlighted the need of the user on the media. This theory assume about the more the user depend on the media that been used by them. The more the influence will be bringing by the media to the users. So, if the people who dependent on this media start to increase in number, the position of the media in the society also will be reshape in order to reach the dependencies of the users.
According to Brough.M and Li.Z (2013), they mention about this media dependency relation will appear or occur when the demand of the user towards it been increase and it will start to bring out the effect to others field. This relationship or this kind of dependencies actually can be divided into two types which are asymmetrical and symmetrical.
