Human health is of great relevance in every aspect of our social, emotional, and psychological well-being. This is because health plays a major role in influencing the productivity of individuals in all economic spheres. Therefore, health care is the benchmark for determining sustainability in all scopes of life. This implies that decisions regarding health care and nursing policies impact heavily and directly on those involved within the medical field (Arabi et al., 2014). It is because of these perceived changes in addition to what nurses and other health care professionals experience in the field that has prompted the need and desire for the inclusion of the nurses in the decision-making process regarding health care and nursing policy formulation. It is for this reason that nurses feel the need to play a role in determination and formulation of policies on health care instead of just being given the mandate to implement the policies that do not include their practice and duties in delivering services to …show more content…
Therefore, these leaders must first find ways of acquiring knowledge and skills that enable them to possess the capacity to be able to deal with various professional problems (Abood 2007). This is because of the ability to exert effects in various spheres of health care which will have a profound effect on the future decisions regarding health care policies rest on the ability to have the authority and knowledge to know the place and time of applying the power. This has the effect of making the nurses flexible in their normal practice by empowering them to make quick decisions based on the issue being addressed without having to follow the right protocol which may not be necessary for delivering the expected service to patients. Therefore, formulating health care policies without the involvement of the nurses and other junior health care professionals may have a long term effect of making the nurses so used to their normal way of providing services to their aging patients.
