He was in his 1987 Hyundai Excel when he was drunk driving along the Foothill Freeway in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles with his two friends. It was reported that king alcohol level was about 0.19% while he was driving. State laws in Los Angeles shows that your blood level has to be a 0.08% in order to operate a vehicle. At 12:30 a.m. officer Tim and Melanie Singer noticed king’s car speeding on the freeway. They got behind him and order him to pull his vehicle over for speeding, king refused to do so causing him to pursuit a high-speed chase with the cops. King drove as fast as hundred and seventeen miles per hour, when king finally pulled over officer Tim singer order king and his two passenger to exit the vehicle and to lie face down on the ground. The group of officer who were chasing him down tried to forcibly subdue king and used a Taser sever times, Bryant Allen manhandle, kicked, and stomped, taunted and threatened. Two officers, Laurence Powell and Timothy Wind, began beating on king with their nightsticks. As the third officer Theodore Briseno, started kicking him in the head multiply times. King grabbed his buttocks when Officer Melanie Singer took thought he was reaching for a weapon when she pointed her pistol at king, ordering to stay down on the ground while she preparing to effect an arrest.
