Becoming an anesthesiologist requires a lot more than just going to school for a long time. To become an anesthesiologist, the future doctor has to have skills that are obtained through life. They must have people skills, the ability to talk with anyone and enjoy talking, and not get annoyed with a nervous patient. Anesthesiologist are one of the first people to see a patient when they arrive for surgery. The patient and the family are normally stressed, so it is the anesthesiologist’s job to put the patient’s fears to rest and calm them down. Anesthesiologist’s try to calm people down by saying things like, “The way you go into surgery is the way you come out” (Dr. Dubrow Botched). That means if you go into surgery with a positive attitude then you will come out well and will heal quickly. To help with the positive attitude, some anesthesiologist’s have to sometimes give people an injection that puts them in a state of fuzziness or it puts them half way asleep. It can be called “happy juice.” The injection is used to calm people 's nerves and force them to relax. An anesthesiologist also sees all the emotions from families before going into surgery.
