Frost The Road Not Taken Analysis Essay

In the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Lee Frost, Frost is the speaker and he is informing the story that he experienced in the past, perhaps few years before. There are two roads that Frost can choose, but he is unsure which path he should take, and wishes to go in both ways. Although he finally chose the path to go after a while, he never was satisfied with his choice, and regretted and wish to go in other road. However, both path are same and the grass in both paths equally look fresh and unworn. However, after Frost chose the path he wanted to go, he wanted to keep the other path for another day and come back to it. Frost described the place as a “yellow wood,” which emphasizes that this is fall and that the leaves are turning color. In the second stanza, Frost wanted go in both path in the wood but he could not since it was impossible for him to walk down two different roads at once. “And sorry I could not travel both,” (line two) the speaker is sorry that he could not take both roads and choose both options at once. “And be one traveler, long I stood” then the speaker stood in the wood and tried to decide which path he should choose to go, this indicates that the speaker isn’t quick-witted or someone who doesn’t care and mindless about where they are going or what they choose. Also, since the speaker mentioned he stood in the wood, this shows he is on foot, not on other transportations. “And looked down one as far as I could” (line four) Since the speaker is thinking too much about where he should go and which path he should choose, he stared down one road to see where he lands, but instead he only saw up to the first bend, where other tree branches or small plants blocked his view. Up to this part of the poem, Frost’s life seems to symbolize this poem. All humans have choices and future holding ahead of them, and no one can see either advantages or the outcomes of the choices they, humans chose well as their futures from the choices the humans make. The speaker thinks that his choice of path will affect his later future and will change his life. However, he lost his privilege to go through another path, to explore and face future with the choice of other option.
