It was a ritual that they all went through in her community. You weren’t considered an adult in the eyes of the community until you passed in the ritual. She didn’t know what happened during the ritual but she knew that it was something that they’ve been doing for hundreds of years and no one failed the ritual.
She wandered around what she dubbed the Dungeon, she wondering what the purpose of this ritual was. The Dungeon was a long, and dark hallway, the lights were hanging from the ceilings swinging backed and forth, flickering on and off with the motion. The ground was covered in pieces of rock, shards of glass, dirt in some places and sand in others. There were doors on either side, but she was told that they would just lead to more endless hallways until she succeeded. It was quiet in the hallway, the same quiet that comes with the snowfall when every living animal is hiding at home where it’s warm. The Dungeon looked like hell but felt like Heaven.
This was one ritual that she didn’t understand the point of. There were many in her community, all of which had practical purposes. This one was one of the more ridiculous ones, sending children to this

Elizabeth burst into a fit of laughter. It was a little white mouse with a long tail that was hitting the walls as it ran away from her. The pitter-patter of the mouse receded into the background as it ran further and further away from her. She slowly got up and wiped her tears away, she spent so much time thinking that it was some gigantic beast that the elders let lose to kill her but it was just a tiny little thing. She couldn’t believe she let her fear take over, she could have waited to see where the noises originated from before she ran away and scared herself even more.
