Noncommunicable Disease Research Paper

Noncommunicable diseases are diseases that cannot be transmitted by another person, a vector, or the environment. As a result, noncommuncable diseases are non-infectious and non-transmittable among persons. An example of a noncummunicable disease includes cancer, a disease in which there is an uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells that destroy body tissue. For a cancer to occur, a buildup of abnormal cells will form a tumor, which will travel to neighboring tissues throughout the body and divide, forming new tumors, in a process known as metastasis. Cancers can develop practically anywhere in the body and are classified according to the tissues they affect. Cancers of the blood-forming organs are known are Leukemias, or “blood cancers”.
Leukemia is a cancer that begins in the blood-forming tissue and floods the bloodstream with abnormal white blood cells. Most commonly, Leukemia will begin in the bone marrow or lymphatic system, both blood-forming tissues. Leukemia will involve white blood cells, which are normally responsible for fighting off infection. However, the white blood cells are abnormal, rendering them defective. First off, exposure to a carcinogen, such as tobacco, which is the number one cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Other carcinogens include UV light, radiation, and chemicals such as benzene. However, there are some factors that you cannot control. For example, genetic abnormalities can lead to Leukemia. As mentioned before, the cause of Leukemia is unknown and produces a range of vague symptoms. Some things are just out of our reach, so just try to live a healthy life, meaning exercising and eating healthy on a daily basis.
