Critical analysis #1: The Rising Cost of Not Going to College Is it worth not going to college? In the article by Pew Research Center “The Rising Cost of Not Going to College”, the author compares a high school degree to a college degree to show, which is better for the work force. It shows the ways it can help you get a better job to pay off school and get work experience. It also shows that with a high school degree, it is harder to get a job and keep a job, compared to a person with a college degree. It also raises them to a new level of work …show more content…
Like the Pew Research says in their study “consistently find that college graduates regardless of generation are doing better than those without”. (2) The one without still have though time without college degree over time.
High school graduates are doing worse compared to their college peers. The 630 Millennial ages 26-32, the young adults that finish their education started to work to make a living and pay off some school loans over time as for one with a high school degree and with a small amount of college it takes much longer to make to pay it off (2).
Age 25 and 32 with only high school diploma are living in poverty compared to 6% with a college degree showing it is a good thing to get a college education to help you earn more money. A survey that show the Current Population Survey conduct of six decades that show, how in different times, the baby boomers, gen x, or Millennial, in comparison of times, made more money over time. Thirty-eight percent say that they should have study harder to do better in class to learn a lot for their job and thirty percent say that they should have changed their field of study because it might be a little hard to find a job they like. There is thirty-one percent of all millennials that say they should have done 3-4 four things differently to help get prepare them for their job and to do better (6). It shows in the article that there are many things you have to do for school. In their study, if they pick the wrong major, it can mess them up in the end. It they pick the wrong major it can be harder to find a job it is better for you. The study also says that if they studied harder and got better grades, it would help
