With political polarization currently on the rise, I believe the worst aspect could be future generations being completely ignorant to American politics and history. Unfortunately, I have seen videos of people ranging from their teens to early adulthood who could not even name 5 US presidents, which is absolutely embarrassing. I believe a lot of this has to do with parents and other school officials who are too afraid to educate young people on how the political system in our country works, out of fear of offending somebody. However, it wasn’t any different when I was in the navy, I remember this past election we were not allowed to discuss who were voting for or even which party we belonged to, which if you think about it, is quite ironic.
