The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

To begin with, it happened in the 7th grade and had a group of friends that consisted of four of us. We all went to Canyon Hills Junior High School, met in the beginning of the year. Around the middle of the year, one of them started to act a little distant, but I thought nothing of it. For weeks, I noticed she became more distant every day. One day, she did not sit with us in lunch. We were all concerned because we knew she was in school and did not leave. We looked for a while before “…all at once their [our] breath drew in” (Mariner, “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”) from finding her sitting by alone in a classroom, looking gloomy. When we asked her what was wrong, she gave a small smile and said everything was perfect.

Literacy Narrative What is Literacy?Google defines literacy as “the ability to read and write.” Literacy plays a major role in our everyday lives, writing our essays that are due within two days, writing a post on facebook, reading a text message, etc. Everyone experiences literacy in a different way, some experience a struggle, not being able to comprehend the purpose of literacy or avoiding it. and others thrive in it. My experience was somewhat neutral due to the fact that as a child I loathed reading and writing, but as I went on through my education I grew to love it.…

It was a bright sunny Saturday morning, waking up hearing the birds chirping outside. The sun was shining through the windows throughout the house. I can remember sitting in the living room in a tan recliner facing the Tv. When I heard the phone ring the first time, it was around ten o’clock in the morning; I looked over to see my mom running to the home phone that used to sit on the desk in the laundry room. It rang three times before my mom answered.…

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

Many years ago, when I was in 6th grade in Westridge Middle School. I was at an all girls school and our teacher made all the girls in the class sit next to one of our dear friends, but it was very uninteresting when you had to sit next to someone you don’t like. I disliked sitting next to Samantha. I don’t like her, she would always argue with me.…

Symbolism is a literary device that plays a big part in making a piece of poetry more interesting, well, it at least helps to catch the reader's attention. Samuel Coleridge uses this kind of representation in, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner". This poem is about an Ancient Mariner who stops a wedding guest on his way to a wedding reception with two friends. As the guest tries to get away from the Ancient Mariner, he pressures him to listen to his tale. In “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”, the sun and moon are emblems of two sides of God; the sun stands for the angry side and the moon stands for the kind side of Him.…

At first, I didn’t want to believe it at all, but then the more she did it the more I believed it.…

Military brats, a term used to describe children with at least one parent that works full-time for the armed forces. In a military family, moving is a common occurrence, at least in my case it was. During my childhood, I moved at least seven times, to places like Hawaii, Cuba, Virginia, and Germany. Moving was always one of the greatest dilemmas that I had to deal with while growing up. Just a few years ago, my family almost had to pack our bags again and move to Japan.…

Clash in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” contains some elements of the Romantic period. The poem deals with ideas about nature, supernatural world, and man’s inner self. On the other hand, R.C. Waterson says that Coleridge’s poem belongs to “no age, but to all the men of all ages” (147). In general, most critics do agree with R.C. Waterson since the poem deals mainly with man and his conflicts. The whole poem is about a seaman and his human experiences at sea.…
