When speaking about animals and there rights around the world, Steven White believes that “the concept of protection itself may vary from a narrow prohibition of cruelty to a wider conception that requires the meeting of an animal’s basic welfare needs” (391). When closley observing, White establishes the notion that animals have little to no rights which only allow them enough rights to survive but nothing or less. Due to such little rights, these animals are treated like dirt and stripped of any dignity and compassion. Laws are difficult to establish because they may place limitations on the extensive experimentations that laboratories hold, “some international laws concerning experimentation established are complex and only apply to those who are members of the European Union” (White 392). One factor that makes it difficult to establish laws for animals is the fact that they are not human, humans only interpret what animals are feeling and are not the definite voice but they are the only voice for them. Furthermore, these rights are distributed to animals by people thus they have no choice in what is happening to them. If one were to strip a human of all their rights and have a higher authority rule over them it would be seen as slavery which humanity has ruled as unjust and hanneous
