“Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.” (Unknown) Some people make the decision to do the right thing even if it's difficult. People have the courage to do the right thing because they have morals and values that they live by. After reading Doing the Right Thing,Thank You Ma’am, and The Road Not Taken, it is evident that having morals and values gives people the courage to do the right thing. Doing the Right Thing can be a challenge and can take a lot of courage. In the commentary, Doing the Right Thing, four football players chose to make a decision that ultimately would prove that they are trustworthy. The players walked into a store that they thought was open. What the players didn't know is that the owner forgot to lock the store at closing time. The players got their items and looked for a clerk to pay. In the article wide receiver Anthony Biondi said “We were down there for 10 minutes looking for someone…” At that(Reilly 7) point they had a choice to steal the items or do the right thing and leave the money on the counter after showing it to the camera. The players had the courage to pay for their items. The players had morals and values that they learned through their family. The people that do have the courage to do the right thing often do so because they have morals and values. In Doing the Right Thing, the football players didn’t want to let their family down by stealing. In The Road not Taken, the traveler made the courageous choice to go down the path less travelled because he did want to take the easy road. And in Thank you Ma’am, Mrs. Jones took the courageous action of helping a young boy who was headed down the wrong path in life. The characters in each story made the right decision even though there may have been easier
