The article that I chose was “The Rich Live Longer Everywhere. For The Poor
Geography Matters.”, which is a reliable article written by Neil Irwin and Quoctrung Bui and published by the New York Times on April 11, 2016. There are three criteria that makes this article reliable, which are the links that were listed by the authors within the article, the purpose of the overall article and the visuals of the article, However, when it comes to the author’s themselves, do they have enough credibility to write on the subject?

The links throughout the article help show that the source is authentic. In each link,

they bring you to different articles that are proof or in other words, is a connection to what

the subject matter is. The links are relevant to the subject matter because it is another method of getting additional information by going somewhere else and it increases importance of the information given within an article. For example, each word or words that are underlined are specific links to certain articles that have importance to this one. In the second paragraph the words “new research” sends you to a link of another article titled “The Health Inequality Project”. It shows you data to measure differences in life expectancy and income between the rich and low-income population. In another paragraph, the underlined words “an editorial” send you to a link of an article titled “The Association Between Income and Life Expectancy in the United States, 2001-2014.” It

Forensic Science: fact or pseudo? Three articles, “Forensic Science Controversies” by Rachel Kaufman published in CQ Press, “Forensic Science” from an FBI handbook on Opposing Viewpoints, and “But it Works on TV” by Sharon Begley from Opposing Viewpoints, discussed in this essay have comparing and contrasting rhetorical elements. Those rhetorical elements are the use of factual data from crime scenes (logos and pathos), contrasting writer credibility (ethos), and different appeals to certain audiences through formality of the articles. To begin, the first rhetorical element that all three articles use is factual data from crime scenes and actual information from case files, appealing to the audiences’ logos. By including these facts in the…

Robert B. Reich wrote, "Why the Rich are getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer" to classify American workers so people could understand where they might be placed in an economical vessel. He splits all occupations figuratively, into three boats. The first group is industrial workers, the second in-person servers and retail, and the third but not last symbolic analyst. By splitting the jobs into these three simple titles, Reich does not give us too much room to justify where we might stand or want to be. Reich is persistently explaining each job category as boats.…
