“Wow did I just hear that?” is exactly what I told myself after hearing this speech again after all these years. I realize that I did but it took me a little while to accept it. The speech I am referring to is of course the speech that Goku gives, after all the carnage Freiza has brought on to Goku. This speech stems from when the undying love a man has for other beings is tested by a complete polar opposite whom seeks only to destroy. This speech is probably one of the most inspirational and hopeful speeches if you believe in all things Righteous.
The audience of the speech is Freiza, while the one giving the speech is a newly turned super-saiyan Goku. Freiza is the all-powerful space pirate known for destroying many planets after consuming their resources. Goku, a member of the powerful humanoid alien race known as Saiyans, was sent to earth to wipe out all indigenous life and take over the planet. That all changed when he suffered an head injury as an infant that re-wired his brain and made him a caring and compassionate being that only fought for justice and for the weak. He draws ethos from the beginning of speech when he says “I am the hope of the universe.” This gives him credibility to show that he is what the universe needs if it hopes to not be destroyed by Freiza or any other malicious being. When he says that he is “the answer to all living things that cry out in peace”, it shows that he has credibility as a protector for living things. Then he goes on to say “I am the protector of the innocent” this shows that he is the one that protects innocents from harm and people that are not so innocent like Freiza. His statement in the speech gives him much of an authoritative tone and seems to demand attention. His use of “I” is very powerful and shows much ethos in the way he uses

In order to persuade an audience speakers will use many approaches in order to appeal to whom they are speaking to. In Geronimo's speech, he uses pathos to make the reader feel emotional from his experiences. In his speech he uses ethos to help the audience feel sympathy for what has happened to him and his people. For example, Geronimo says “The soldiers never explained to the government when an Indian was wronged, but reported the misdeeds of the Indians.” showing that they were always viewed as the bad people to the government and no one is informed when the Indians were mistreated.…

This shows us a good use of ethos; another use of ethos is when Obama sites the text by saying “Clem once said.” Obama uses pathos when he says that Clem is a good man and then he says that a good man is the best thing to hope for when you are eulogized. This gives emotions because it would not be a very nice thought to be eulogized and what is said about you not so good. He used the next sentence to show us credibility and emotions. When Obama talks about the accomplishments that Clem accomplished throughout his life time he shows logic because he said that not everybody has to be as accomplished as Clem at the time when he got out of school.…

Petalsharro focused on the importance and trustworthiness of President Monroe and thus transferred the credibility of the President to himself. The only pitfall of his speech is his lack of logos, or logic. While Petalsharro makes a convincing speech because of the use of pathos and ethos, the lack of logos incredibly weakens his argument.
