Karl Marx's Ideologies

Ideologies, the science of ideas, were a product of the enlightenment era and pertain to philosophical ideas and beliefs of what “ought to be”. Meaning to this term, coined by Comte de Tracy during the French revolutionary period, has been an ever evolving concept. There are various ideological beliefs that differ on what the most suitable social, political, and economic structures will create the “best” societal outcome. These wide ranges of philosophies may include support for individualistic nature or that we should all be socially cooperative and act only in the best interest of our community. Some perspectives express that it is up to our discretion to act through free will or that our lives are externally influenced by a higher power. …show more content…
However, ideologies do not come without opposition. Napoleon Bonaparte condemned ideologies and Karl Marx described ideologies as a deception; ideas and ideals that people believe are only products created to fortify the ruling class in their current social structure.

I do agree that ideologies can provide valuable functions and act as a tool to better comprehend theoretical and actual practices of structures within a society. Although, I am unable to agree with the stringent views of the Ideologue and believe that they fall blind to their philosophies.
Ideologies provide people with necessary abilities to interpret and from purpose in the complicated world around them. An ideology can create a path one is supposed to follow, using its teachings and ideas as guidelines. Having a basic belief system is an integral part of having a meaningful life, whether it follows a religion, political stance, or social issue. One’s purpose in life can be found by maintaining an ideology and expanding on it. This can be supported by the characters of three different literature pieces. Meursault in The Stranger, the narrator in The Invisible Man, and Harrison in the short story “Harrison Bergeron” each exemplify having ideologies and becoming who they are meant to be by following their ideas.…

Marx and Engels contend that ideologies are false ideas whose deficiencies are "a product of truth-distorting social forces. Noel Carroll supports this very view that ideologies are false beliefs and argues that they uphold some kind of social domination. Most of the time ideologies are related to the creation of erroneous beliefs and assertions. Statements like "All Muslims are terrorists," and "all black men want to rape white women" and many other generalizations become "factual claims" and a "propositional content" that describe a state of affairs as being true. The validity of such assertions can often "be checked by appealing to inductively acquired evidence, or by challenging the logical consistency of their premises.…

The three Ideologies are Implicit, Explicit, and Neutral Ideology. Ideologies are the way a movie portrays its message. Whether it’s by getting the message across no matter what in an explicit manner, getting the message across in a subtle way like the movie Blue Velvet, or somewhere in between using a Neutral ideology. I think the movie blue velvet uses Implicit Ideology because the message it is trying to give is shown to you throughout the film but you don't realize it because it is very subtle. I think the message blue velvet is trying to give is the reality of life.…

Throughout the course of world history, humans have tried to find meaning by creating languages, inventing religions, and attaining classical educations. Individualism is essentially an ideology asserting that the individual must think of his person as an end in itself and not as a means to the ends of others or something else that is placed above him. For example, an absolute individualist does not accept that the goal of his life is the good of society. One’s first goal is one’s own good and happiness (Lukes 1973). The polar opposite of this is collectivism.…

Throughout history, humans have been using political ideals as a means to gain power and keep people from living in complete chaos. In the course of human history, we have seen political ideologies evolve in ways that have propelled nations to greatness and in the same way plunged nations and civilizations into ruin. However, many of these ideologies, in idealized societies would be able to flourish and sustain the populations with minimal complication. I believe that of the ideologies that we learned about in class, that Marxism is fundamentally the best with the fewest conceivable problems under the correct circumstances, and that Fascism is the least effective of the major ideologies. Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels lay out the basic principles…

One of the best things about Marxism is that it stressed the importance of social equality and the issues that the system of capitalism created in society. Marx argued that capitalism was hindrance to freedom because only those who have money can really enjoy freedom. The Marxist theory in the simplest perspective is that “Marxism emphasizes the idea that social life is based upon "conflicts of interest".…
