The Republican Debate

Improved Essays
Progress in America, is it even possible with a split government? At the rate the Republicans are going, we will be reaching a downfall economically and climately while the middle and lower class break their back so these big and bad corporations can live in a cesspool of money. Since I have watched both Republican and Democratic Presidential Debate, I can absolutely say that the Republicans will not improve us. When comparing the two, the Republican Debate was almost a joke since they didn’t really talk about current policies, or how they’re going to change or fix issues. It was pretty entertaining watching the Republican Debate because there was a lot of shade being thrown at Trump and by Trump. However, if we’re talking what is best for …show more content…
I thought all of the Democrats were good, except for one, Senator Webb. The story behind Webb is that he was a liberal republican until he claimed to be kicked out of that party. Webb then joined the Independent party and is now a democrat. Webb was so annoying and unprofessional throughout the whole thing. It was probably better off if he didn’t actually joined the debate. He kept interrupting and kept asking for his time because the debate was mainly focused on Sanders and Clinton. It made him look bad and also when Cooper finally came around to asking Webb questions, he didn’t really know how to answer. It was so cringey seeing Webb attempt at answering these questions, when really it seems like he doesn’t know much at all. Webb didn’t even sound like a democrat, but nice try. The one candidate I felt bad for was Chafee, the poor man just wants America to go green and overall seems like such a nice and genuine guy. America isn’t looking for a soft president though, and he lacked a strong voice and policy. However, the two candidates who didn’t lack a strong voice or policy was Clinton and …show more content…
Clinton and Sanders were so strong and similar in their policies. Sanders want to make public colleges and universities free by increasing the wealthy class tax because he believes it is a right our children should have. He talks about how after graduating college, the overwhelming student debt is crushing. Hilary’s policies, in the same sense agrees with Sanders’, but stating that tuition should be lowered and ultimately it is the State’s decision to go through with this. Sanders also talks about free healthcare for Americans and he compares us to Denmark, and Sweden. Overall it is a tough decision between Sanders and Clinton. They both know what they’re doing and they both have great policies that I am absolutely for. Clinton definitely appeals to the feminists and the big media. I think its pretty clear that America wants a new face and a new gender in the White House. That is one of the reasons Clinton stands out. Not only was she Secretary of State, worked closely with Obama, a feminist, and is familiar with it all due to President Clinton, she’s a living proof of change and is an example of our nation progressing. Yes, America fears change, or at least that’s the Republicans, but we were never conventional. I think our generation has become the most accepting and understanding and the people are starting to open

In the article “Excerpts from the Hourlong Debate of the Democratic Candidates for Mayor” Green mention racial profiling it is illegal under the federal law and the most ideal approach to do stop and frisk is by making rules when a police officer question a person in public place. On the other hand, Hevesi argue that during in 1994 to 1995 police disregard those rules and they were permitted to profile. Also he mention that people were stop and frisk despite the fact there is no crime and connection with the victims. Vallone argue that he is not going to suspend stop and frisk, but only can be done when the officers have probable cause or reasonable suspicious of a person who commit a crime, is committing or is about to commit a crime. Likewise…

According to Steinem, Clinton and other qualified female candidates could not use the same style as Obama or Bill Clinton. If they did, they would be considered too emotional. There is no ”right way” for a woman to be in a powerful public role without being considered a “bitch.” Steinem declares her support for Clinton over Obama because Clinton has “no masculinity to prove.” She writes about her concern that Obama was seen as unifying due to race while Clinton was seen as divisive about gender.…

His answers to the questions such as changing his party affliction over the years, his vote of Glass-Steagall in the Senate, and if Edward Snowden is a traitor or hero had everyone including himself confused to what was he talking about. The little known candidate is former Virginia Senator Jim Webb; a decorated combat vet who probably scared the democrat viewers when he said his biggest enemy was a guy he killed who made the mistake of throwing a grenade at him in Vietnam. Receiving hardly any applause for his answers, liberals consider Webb an enemy due to the fact he can appeal to Republicans and is the most conservative out of all of them. I mean how dare he be pro-Keystone and have an A rating from the NRA?…

Trump started out strong and composed but I think he lost his temperament throughout the night. He accused Clinton of not having a good temperament but from the debate that I watched I witnessed the opposite. As the other editorials have stated, along with Tory Newmyer, Trump came out strong in the beginning, but it soon went downhill from there. Newmyer stated that, “Clinton moved from the start to stick Trump in his softest spot: his business dealing.” Trump is all about his businesses and investments.…

Interestingly, this also may have been Trump’s best performance. Trump appeared more presidential than he has ever appeared, though that is not saying much. He rarely attacked or insulted people (though he did get mad at the audience, claiming they were planted to boo him), refused to draw red lines, and even made some good points, such as drawing attention to the use of eminent domain in the Keystone XL pipeline (though, he lost that exchange in the conventional…

The Vice Presidential debate that occurred on October 4th 2016 was important to people across the united states. It is clear that many citizens are undecided on who to vote for, the point of this debate was to give clarity to voters and to reassure the American people of their views. I was hoping this debate would be better than the presidential debate however it seemed to be the same; Tim Kaine interrupting and Mike Pence constantly being on the defense. Despite the interruptions both candidates made a few good points that are essential to consider when making a decision. Both sides made strong arguments.…
