A moment in the Merlin series that really touched me occurred during season four, episode one, The Darkest Hour, when Percival steps in and saves those three terrified little children from the Dorocha. I found that scene to be a defining moment for Percival, one where his selflessness and gentle heart became apparent. As the show went on, I often wondered, "What happened to those children?" This story features one of the children, Rion (I gave him that name, and have decided to make him a little older for the purpose of this tale).…

All four characters are present in the first pages of the novel. Even though the author decided not to give a long description of each character, it is easy to understand that unlike his brother and his sisters, Edmund is an ambiguous character who can be perceived as mean, grumpy, and nasty. The author described the personality of each child, in a subtle manner. Indeed, in the first chapter, the children discuss which animal could be hidden in the mountains, each child thinks of a specific animal which says a lot about them.…

In ‘The Rattler”, the tension and duty reflect the sorrow the man felt after killing the snake, but revealed his role when protecting others. The man was not at ease when he consciously decided to take the life of one of nature's creatures, but was enlightened knowing that he saved human lives that were potentially in danger. In other word, the man was conflicted between choosing to kill an innocent, but harmful snake or to fulfill his job of protecting the weak. The author's diction heightens the vehement and conscientious thoughts of the man when contemplating taking the life of the snake.…

Lange captures a moment between two “American” college students in 1942 that gives her an alchemist position by turning an erroneous, acrimonious point of time into a cooperative and patriotic time across the races in America, adding onto our misremembered past. Lange’s position was granted by the government to show that they were not mistreating the people they were evacuating, but through subliminal imagery depicted in the men’s body language, wardrobe, and their surroundings, she was able to show the reality of America during World War II. Authors like Okada and Kelley also assisted in helping show how American “nationalism” is lived and viewed in the perspective of the minorities in America during the time of this war. One of the objectives…
