The male reproductive system , as stated previously, is different from the female reproductive system. The male reproductive system consists of testes, ducts, accessory sex glands, the penis, and scrotum (McLafferty, 2012 p1). The testes consist of glandular tissue and each testis is contained in a white fibrous capsule called the tunica albuginea (McLafferty 2012 p1). The testes are held in the scrotum which is a loose sac of skin and smooth muscle.…
Let’s Talk About Sex At some point in every adolescent’s life he/she will be faced with a transformative decision concerning his/her sexual and reproductive health. However, due to the current curriculums in America, such as Abstinence-Only, a majority of these adolescents lack the knowledge to make that decision responsibly, often resulting in unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. In order to provide the knowledge needed, Comprehensive Sexuality Education should be offered, if not mandatory, in all fifty states.…
The reproductive, endocrine, and nervous systems all function the body frequently. They use cells for communication. They also work together through sex hormones. The nervous system keeps the organism alive and attracts the mate. The reproductive system allows the mating and reproduction and the development of the nervous system.…
Martin reveals the raw feelings of the science textbook authors behind the completely natural process of menstruation. Martin goes into detail about how women are viewed as baby producers and if they fail to accomplish that task, according to the textbooks, they have failed to fulfill their womanly duty (486). Martin provides a clear example of a women feeling inferior, when she says “In the case of women, the monthly cycle is described as being designed to produce eggs and prepare a suitable place for them to be. Fertilized and grown-all to the end of making babies. But the enthusiasm ends there” (486).…
Countless people have different ideas about how reproduction practices and reproduction processes that stem from their cultural beliefs. Cultural views distinguish how different stages in a young woman’s life are celebrated. “Culture shapes how biological scientist describe what they discover about the natural world (Stubbs).” For example, scientist account of reproductive biology relies on stereotypes central to the United States cultural definition of man and female. Reproductive practices is an important element of feminine identity and construction.…
The American Medical Association “urges schools to implement comprehensive, developmentally appropriate sexuality education programs”. Therefore, a national institution that specializes in medical practices deems Comprehensive Sex Education as accurate and prefers it in public schooling rather than Abstinence-Only…
Sex education has been a notorious failure in the education system. Such programs fail because they teach teenagers to be judges of their own sexual behavior—not society, not their authoritarian parents, and certainly not the church. Sex education programs approach sex from a “neutral” viewpoint by teaching students to postpone sex until they are more mature, but encourages them to use proper protection if they are unable or unwilling to wait. From this “neutral” viewpoint, there is no good explanation for why students should not have sex when the technology to prevent or terminate diseases and pregnancies is readily available. Sex appears to be just another sport activity where only the proper gear is needed to stay safe.…
The endocrine system is the collection of glands that produce hormones, which regulate metabolism, growth & development, sexual function, reproduction, sleep & mood, and tissue function. The endocrine system is made up of the pituitary gland, thryroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries, and testicles. (Frucht, 2012 p.315). A gland selects and removes materials from the blood, hormones then travel through the blood to target organs to adjust their activity. This system affects almost every organ and cell in the body, and it also plays a viral role in maintaining homeostasis.…
Many experts in the healthcare field have stated numerous times that sexual education is extremely crucial in the school systems. Sexual education in schools needs to be addressed because it could deter HIV/AIDS; it will decrease teen pregnancy, and it can also help young people make wise decisions. Without the input of sexual curriculum the world would slowly deteriorate with one preventable incident at a time. Imagine hearing the words, “Mom, the doctor said I am positive for HIV/AIDS” leave your child’s mouth.…
First and foremost, culture alone is a very sensitive topic and changes in cultures cause difficulties, but somewhere there needs to be a change. In a country where publicly discussing sexual nature is taboo is a huge barrier for adolescents alone, changes need to be made. Having the largest adolescent population puts the country in a further stage in terms of low-income standings. More kids, more money needed, no money, and no education. Lack of education has proved to be a critical factor of even having access to basic Sex Education, thus resulting in high numbers regarding teenage pregnancy and STIs.…
Adolescent sexual activity and little knowledge on how to protect themselves against STI/STD’s may be answered through more advanced sex education classes in school. Comprehensive knowledge to these subjects will be provided in the classroom including: birth controls, the use of condoms to prevent STI/STD’s, sexual behavior, meanwhile also encouraging abstinence and delayed sexual activity. Few parents disagree with school’s providing the information to their children; although, the parents who do contradict may not be willing to provide information about this subject and the knowledge the adolescents need to know. A child has the ability to have sexual interactions whether or not they are taught safe sex; so why not provide the information they need to know to keep themselves…
To prevent young adolescents from contracting diseases or experiencing teen pregnancy, sex education should be mandated in public schools. When comprehensive sex education is taught throughout the school, teens are more aware of the consequences of sex. The basic science of sex should not only be discussed but also how to protect yourself. More importantly, sex…
Sex education is a huge part of everyone’s life growing up because we all need to understand what it is and what consequences we can get by doing something we are not sure of. But some might take it to a far extent that children do not need to know. Some teachers even start teaching kids too early. Children do not start getting hormones until about twelve and some start learning around nine and that is too early. So many different things can happen when having sex education because they can either be teaching too much or too less.…
The main function and purpose of the female reproductive system is to create new life. It is responsible for producing female egg cells, called ova or oocytes, which are necessary for reproduction. The female reproductive system produces female sex hormones that maintain the reproductive cycle. Once new life has been conceived this system has the crucial task of supporting and delivering it. One of the main organs in the female reproductive system are the mammary glands, which are located inside the breast, and they secrete milk.…
Sexual Education has been encouraged to be a part of public school education since the late 1800’s. It is a program that is supposed to help young adolescents understand their body, promote abstinence, types of contraception, the risks of engaging in sexual activities, and how to prevent diseases or pregnancy. However, many parents fight this program because of their beliefs that teens should stay abstinent till marriage, and learning about sex will increase their urge to have sex. Depending on what the state requires to be taught and what a school district wants, a student will either receive one of the two styles of sexual education. The two styles are comprehensive and abstinence only.…
