The Religion of Islam The founder/prophet of Islam is Muhammad. He was 40 years of age when he became prophet of this religion. When you enter the Religion of Islam you become a muslim. You don’t just become a muslim but you also have to follow some steps to fit in this religion. You have to follow the five pillars of Islam which are: 1) Prayer 2) Charity 3) Faith 4) Pilgrimage & 5) Fasting. The religious book is called the Quran. Islam is the second largest religion in the United States! Does that not sound BIG and popular? Islam began in the year 610. The Religion of Islam was founded by Muhammad. Muhammad was born around the year 570 A.D in the city of Mecca. He was 40 years of age when he realized that he believed there was only one god named Allah. Muhammad loved to pray and in one occasion while he was praying he received a revelation from god by the angel Jibreel (Gabriel). Although it wasn’t just a miracle and big excitement when the angel appeared, he was frightened and terrified when Gabriel appeared. He was so scared he thought he was going to die. If you’re a muslim you’re not allowed to steal, lie, gamble, EAT PORK, or drink alcohol. “O you who believe! Intoxicants and games of chance and (sacrificing to) stones set up and (dividing by) arrows are only an uncleanness, the Shatan’s work; shun it therefore that you may be successful.” (5:90-91). This quote came from the book (Quran), and it’s stating the reason you must NOT drink beer or wine, or anything that causes dizziness and harm. Women in this religion wear a hijab. The reason they wear a hijab is because they are only to commit to one men. Another reason is because they want men to fall in love with the woman’s personality and not based on their looks, which I totally agree with! Nowadays men fall in love with a women because of their looks, and care more about that than how they actually are
