The relevance of ICTs in modern pedagogy
Motivation has always been a problem when we talk about education. Techniques were used to try to counter this problem. One in particular is getting our attention. Technologies are being adapted to education in order to increase the student’s level of motivation. The question is: Is it relevant to use information and communication technologies in education? If yes, how does it affect the modern education? First of all, what are information and communication technologies? There is no specific definition of what an ICT really is but we can say that it is all the software and electronic devices used to get information on the internet. Then, the teacher gave an exam about that information. It was all about that behavioral learning perspective. New approaches of teaching have been unlocked by the help of ICT’s. Active, collaborative, creative and integrative teaching and learning approaches are all approaches that were brought or improved with the used of ICT’s. In the active approach, the teacher has to supply the students with material and help that will guide them to investigate and explore the competencies that they have to learn. The ICT’s are offering an array of resources to help the students actively in his investigations. The collaborative approach is all about communication between the students and teamwork. Students have to discuss, debate, write and present collaboratively in most of the activities in the collaborative approach. ICT’s have contributed to the creative approach by offering new way to present the material. They offer sharing between people all over the world. Teachers can get inspired by other teachers. The integrative approach has improved by eliminating a separation made by the traditional pedagogy between the different disciplines. ICT’s have offered a lot to both students and teachers. ICT’s have contributed to the improvement of communication. Blogs, social media, forums are some of the many ICT’s that have helped the communication around the world. It is partly because of these that I’ve learned to speak 2 languages: English and Spanish. They are interesting because they allow students and teachers to share a lot of material on internet. Students and teachers have the opportunity to share their knowledge with people from all around the globe. With ICT’s courses can be done online. There is bachelor’s degree at UQTR that is 100% online, the translation one. Without ICT’s this program couldn’t be offered online. The students can ask questions to the teacher by using the forum provided by the course portal. When we talk about communication, it is vague subject. It includes a lot thing. The fact is, computers have benefited the education in multiple ways in the communication
