The memory of 126 Riverside Drive will always stay with me. The concrete in front of the apartment overlooking the park is separated into squares and covered in old gum and the occasional chalk doodle. You go up and stand on the single black concrete step and look up at the black marble and the silver 126. You walk in the clear glass door and walk onto the faded tile floor that goes from the bottom of the few lonely stairs through the next door and to the elevator. You feel the cold from the faded brass handrail and walk up the stairs to the buzzer with a list of all the apartments.…

It always comes as a surprise to me when people comment on how there’s nothing to see as you drive through Saskatchewan. I can understand how different the scenery must be in contrast to mountainous backdrops or tropical landscapes, however I have always found the prairies to be uniquely beautiful, and I cannot grasp how others do not see that beauty as well. As I drive through southwest Saskatchewan, the world around me is full of magnificence. Despite popular belief, Saskatchewan is not a flat expanse of nothingness, rather it is a panorama of matchless flora and fauna. Whereas there are areas that are admittedly incredibly flat, the terrain varies as it melts into river hills, and there is a mix of farmland and native prairie grasses that serve to house countless wildlife and insects.…

Wallpaper With a Thousand Words “The Yellow Wallpaper” is an important story, but digging has to be done to see so. The author Charlotte Perkins displays a feminist interpretation in an impressive way. Her use of metaphors brings out the true meaning behind this story. The house is the whole backbone to the story and is a one of the metaphors used.…

Setting is always an important part of any story but in The Yellow Wallpaper, the setting has an important impact on the reader. It parallels the way the narrator feels throughout the story, the isolation and restriction from social life. To exaggerate on this concept, the main setting throughout the story is the house. The outside and the inside of the house are exaggerated immensely, along with the current time period the short story is set in, and also the nursery that the narrator is confined in. Throughout these interesting settings the author has chosen, the reflection of isolation can be found.…
