Drug use among young adults could be due to various amounts of reasons. Specifically within the ages of 18 to 25 years old, young adults are emerging into adulthood. Young adults are dealing with changes and adapting to a new lifestyle such as: working and studying fulltime, one can also have a family to support while working as well. The pressure and expectations are high which can be an outcome of why young adults turn to drugs, medical or not to deal with the stress.
The methods that can be used to research the use of drugs in young adults is to find and read studies relating to the issue and find outcomes as to why young adults turn to drugs. The goal is to find some exact causes and specifically what drugs are being used with young adults. • Health Anxiety – Participants had to complete a short form of the Health Anxiety Inventory. The Health Anxiety Inventory indicates two subscales: Health Anxiety meaning to worry about health condition and Negative Consequences which is analyzing the severity of the health condition.
• Psychological Variables – As for the psychological variables participants completed the Substance Use Risk Profile. The Substance Use Risk Profile measures: sensation seeking, impulsivity, hopelessness and anxiety sensitivity to drugs.
