This post is a review of a peer-reviewed article titled The Relationship between Personality Type and Leadership Focus by Grant Sieff and Louis Carstens printed in the South African Journal on Human Resource Management in 2006. This article presented the theory that extraverts are more adept in focusing as leaders as opposed to introverts, based on the tests conducted on the relationship between personalities and focus of leaders who participated in the research (Sieff & Carstens, 2006). Assumptions were clearly stated, which are backed by the application of established theories relevant to the subject of research. In this study, the authors correlated each of the seven Leadership Focus Questionnaire (LFQ) developed by the authors, with the four attitudes and four processes of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator instrument to see if certain relationships exist (Sieff & Carstens, 2006). The results and discussion were well-organized, summarizing the data collected and the corresponding analyses, allowing for a smooth transition from one subject to the next. Overall, the authors were able to draw their conclusions from the data gathered during the multiple phases of their research. The discussion also included recommendations to organizational leaders and human resource professionals on leadership and personality types based on the outcome of the research.
