I believe it is interesting when Linda is brought back into the director's life. In Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the foundation of the World State is built upon the idea of promiscuity and sexual freedom. Men, women, and children of all ages are encouraged to engage in loosely formed relationships with multiple partners, which helps to destroy feelings of commitment and loyalty. The ideas of settling down, staying faithful to one partner, and starting a family are horrifyingly pornographic to the minds of the citizens and are considered to be truly deplorable. Within this world of fluid sexuality, the heart that represents everything is the Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning.…

Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein from 1831 and Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands are both extraordinary works of art with over a century between them. Both the book and film have a very strong similar theme between them that goes deeper than the plot and characters. Frankenstein and Edward Scissorhands have the same theme that the creatures aren’t always the monsters, humans can be the real monsters, they are not accepting of beings who are different. Frankenstein’s monster and Edward were both created in very similar ways but the chance to interact with humans were very different. They both came to life through inanimate parts.…

Tim Burton’s beautifully haunting production of ‘Edward Scissorhands’ introduces our protagonist, represented by Johnny Depp, and explores the fictional story of this solitary boy with an unfortunate seemingly threatening oddity, being thrust into a world where he is glaringly blatant in the midst of the suburbs. Despite his intimidating exterior, it is almost immediately exposed that Edward is just an innocent, childlike soul, intent on serving others. The purpose of this film was to delve into the threatening manner of suburbia and its dismissive views on originality. Burton shattered cliches and stereotypes of who ‘monsters’ are by introducing the monster in the form of townspeople. As Tim Burton’s individual ordeals are translated into…

Linda’s home is in the civilized world, however, on a trip to the savage world with the Director, she becomes pregnant and stays with the savages.
