Language is basically the source of communication it is a way or means through which people interact within or outside their social circles. Language helps to build a bridge between different people of different cultures and nationalities. Talking about English as a language, it is widely used and understood by people across the world because it is a lingua franca, so it acts as a bridge for people to communicate with people different nationalities. Language consists of a number of components for example grammar, sentence structure, punctuation etc. Literature revolves around the use of expression. Almost all the pieces of literature found are rich in expression. Literature usually reflects culture and it is also very rich. It is basically the thought which we express with the help of a language. So literature is basically a combination of thoughts which are expressed in a language. Literature also consists of a number of forms like poetry, stories, novel, drama etc. literature is the form of language which is not understood by all it is mostly understood and used by the literate people and common people cannot understand it. The relationship of these two is so important that it is not easy to think of one without the other. Both language and literature are share the same level of importance and while studying language or literature one should be aware of the other too for the better understanding. But when we talk about teaching these two on a higher scale or level then it is clearly seen that both are treated as separate subjects. When there is a teacher he/she is either called a language or a literature teacher because these are two different subjects whose base is the same and the understanding of one is important while studying the other but at the same time they cannot be entitled as the same
