Once you complete your degree you have to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) this is a regulated body that set the Professional Standards that Nurses and Midwives should follow throughout their careers, ensuring that their skills and knowledge is kept up to date. If a Nurse or Midwives does not adhere to these standards they will be investigated and lost their registration. A Nurse and Dietitian need to collaborate between each other for instance if a patient came into hospital and was malnourished, a nurse would then refer them to a dietitian who would then work alongside the nurse in planning the best diet which would meet the patient’s Nutritional needs.
