The best scenario for the United States is to further relations with Cuba and lift as many sanctions as possible in order to attain the most benefit from the new opportunity. The United States has a golden opportunity to make the most of evolving times. The benefits from the sanctions being removed from Cuba can aid both Cuba and the United States. In the article “The Thrill of the Thaw” from Economist.com it is argued that three types of American Businesses that will benefit from open relations with Cuba. The first is Mom and Pop entrepreneurs that have stake in the island. Most of these people will be investing in small enterprises such as restaurants. Although this is will be a small source of revenue compared to giant companies this is the base level. This is important because without this level of business there would not be chance for Cubans to grow and make something of themselves. Also Americans seeking to get in on the ground level of a business may see this opportunity as outstanding. The second group of Americans interested are bigger businesses such as Netflix. The first argument that may be argued against the change in policy with Cuba is that the United States is colonizing Cuba and putting in programs that unlawful interference with Cuba’s international affairs. This argument does not stand because of the simple fact that the U.S. is not tying to colonize Cuba but rather open the door to trade and give them tools to learn democratic values. In the United States groups such as #CubaNow advocate for teaching Cubans about the Democratic process and rather than forcing upon them, this group realizes that these values have to be rooted by the people. This approach is most important because we are not forcing anything upon the Cubans but gathering giving them all the necessary tools to succeed and what happens with these tools is up to the Cubans. Therefore those that say the U.S. is infringing on Cuba’s international affairs are also misunderstanding what should be done. The article “The Contradictions in Washington 's Relations With Havana” written by Michael Bustamante he draws on a quote from John Kerry which states, “U.S. policy is not to anvil on which Cuba’s future will be forged”. Kerry is stating the U.S. is not trying the shape Cuba’s future. Not only does this confirm the intentions but also points the respect that is given to Cuba’s sovereignty. The U.S.
