The Relation Between Continine And Cigarettes Per Day

Decent Essays
There seems to be a linear relationship but not enough to say it is when first testing if there was relationship, because the line slightly toughed one of the point (Y=1.39E2+2.48*x). There seem to be increasing relation between continine and cigarettes per day. But as we test further there seems to be no relation between continine and cigarettes per day on the scatterplots.
When finally running the correlation test there was a positive correlation coefficient relation between the two variables. Meaning that when cigarettes per day increase, so does cotinine. When running the test of the rank we get the same results. Therefore, the relation between cigarettes per day and continine is positive relationship between them both because correlation

Psychologists who have studied smokers and their performance have noticed that frequent cigarette smokers have a higher motor skills and a more focused attention span than people who do not consume nicotine (Heishman, 1999, p. 143). When a avid cigarette smoker experiences withdrawal from the nicotine, their performance will become impaired and their attention and cognitive ability decreases. Thus, this lack of ability to concentrate is what drives a cigarette smoker to want to smoke again, in order to regain mental stability.…

Discussion Since the experiment is now over I can see whether or not my hypotheses were right or wrong and whether or not the P-Value accepts or rejects the null hypothesis. I predicted that the control group would have the higher average body weight than the experimental rats, in this case my hypothesis was correct. Because the experimental rat was an adolescent it showed different symptoms than the adult rat. If the adult rat had hypothyroidism then they would gain weight, but because the experimental rat was an adolescent rat with hypothyroidism it did not gain weight. Therefore, the control group had a higher average body weight.…

The null hypothesis for this experiment reads a change in the substrate, Catechol, concentration then there will be a change in the rate of reaction. The alternate hypothesis states if there is a change in Catechol concentration then there will be no change in the rate of reaction. To explain the null, if one chooses to change the amount of substrate in each trial then you should expect to see a change in a number of products produced in those trails. I predict that the trials with less concentration of the substrate will yield a lower rate of reaction and vice versa. In the experiment, test tube 2 was filled with 6mL of the substrate, Catechol, and test tube 3 was filled with 4mL of the substrate.…

by Simon Chapman, Chapman supports the claim that there raise in popularity of electrical cigarettes for smoking cessation, as did Stimson. However, unlike Stimson’s article, Chapman argues that electrical cigarettes are actually leading smokers to become dual users. He is doubtful of the claims that electrical cigarettes are actually generating a high number of quitters, as well as its statement to reduce the risk of disease. Moreover, Chapman does not see a drastically higher amount of successful quitters, who profit from switching to electrical cigarettes. Chapman himself writes, “Other studies report only marginal advantages of e-cigarette use over other cessation strategies, or worse outcomes (p.535).…

In conducting a national analysis of the hypothesis on the effectiveness of the strictness of drunk driving laws, a one-tailed correlation test will be conducted to determine if a negative correlation exists between the two variables. Before conducting the actual statistical analysis, a scatter chart was made in order to help visualize the relationship between the variable. As can be seen in the scatter plot, there is indeed a negative relationship between the variables. However, the relationship is difficult to visualize without the use of a line of best fit which shows the downward trend of the relationship. It works in such a way that as x value or the strictness factor increases, the y value or drunk driving death rate decreases.…

Trentmann explains that the theoretical debate revolving around consumption has been going on for many decades, but in the last two, a change, or a variation in lens, has occurred (373). Philosophical engagement has been a driving force in the recent consideration of consumerism, and how it relates to modernity and, arguably, its disappearance. Despite the possible disappearance of philosophical factors in consumer culture “the centrality of consumption to modern capitalism and contemporary culture”(Trentmann 373) is still very much thriving. He notes that many thinkers, such as Sombart, Durkheim, and Veblen thought that consumption was a strong force behind modern capitalism and its “dynamism and social structure” (Trentmann 373). As both…
