The West India Company was smaller and weaker by a landslide
It was easier to do as much raiding as trading. 5) Henry Hudson looked for new areas. He sailed into Delaware Bay, New York Bay, then the Hudson River. New Netherland was born after he claimed the area.
The Dutch West India Company bought the island of Manhattan from the local Indians.
