Next, I will discuss the reform of Soccer from a global standpoint. Soccer is quite a unique sport as it is celebrated strongly across the world. Beginning in Ancient Greece and Rome, games of soccer became a fun pastime among many civilians. Eventually, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) formed to become the organization that regulates the games and processes of professional soccer. Furthermore, being formed in 1904 through a confederation of a few European countries, FIFA organizes the rules of the game and sets up the World Cup, being the championship game of the sport.
The World Cup, starting the 1930, occurs every 4 years, making it a more prestigious and anticipated championship. Following this high anticipation, the World Cup is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world. Because soccer is such a global sport, its appeal is so widespread that many fans support their country of choice and represent their team with a jersey depicting their team of choice with their favorite player’s letters. Over time, FIFA went from an organization of 8 countries to 211 national associations present day. With their large appeal around the world, FIFA markets well and phenomenally profits financially.
The economics of soccer is quite complex as it is a global initiative, with each country making their own money based off of their own teams. One very successful piece of the FIFA franchise is the FIFA video game line. Selling over 100 million copies…
