I will admit, that my handwriting in essays from this year and essays from my past years have departed from looking alike to each other. Yet, this hides the true progress I have made in terms of understand reading material and writing with more clarity and precision. Truly, I feel that my work in AP English this year has had a great impact on my writing capabilities. First, we will look at the all the different writing type that was given to me throughout the year. The first things we have are the group essays. The example I have of this type of essay was the “American Dream” essay. I score well on the essays, getting a 7, which would correspond to a “B” on the essay. I felt that although the essays were easier to do –as more …show more content…
First, the best essay I wrote throughout the entire year would be the “American Dream” essay. The two main reasons I chose this is that it showed that I can work with a group to create a comprehensive essay, and it presented an idea to which I could base an opinion around. This paper was the first to show that I was able to work together with other people in creating the whole paper, and made it possible for me to understand how to work quickly and efficiently with a group dynamic. The main difference in this paper from any other was that I had some ideas to share about the theme, and had an opinion to base the pathos of my argument. Next, the grade I would give myself for my overall writing is a C+/B-. The main reason for this grade is a lack of any major improvement in writing. Although I had some improvements in writing (vocabulary, syntax, and tone), and developed a more complex style, there was not much improvement in the quality of writing this year from writing last year. I plan on not repeating my mistakes for next year’s English. Finally, I will talk about my main goals that I have completed and will complete. This year, I have been able to accomplish my goals of being able to process timed writes quickly, and being able to read texts more closely. My future goals for the coming years is to sharpen my critical thinking, start making connections within the text, and being able to write timed writes at a quicker

During this semester of English W131, I have experienced both accomplishments and setbacks while learning how to improve my writing skills. Throughout the course, I have learned that writing is not only about how much information is in the paper, but also about how well the writer’s thoughts are expressed throughout the text. Practicing many different styles of writing as I did in the class has helped me tremendously with my delivery in my writing. I believe that this course was one to prepare us for future writing courses with professors we will encounter who will give us feedback that may puzzle us because it will require more work and more thinking. Although I have had difficulty in the class, I do believe that I have learned from my mistakes and that I am finishing the course with stronger writing skills that will help me though the rest of my college career and life.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

One of my failures of this class was when I received a letter grade of “C+” on my first This I Believe essay. I have always seen letter grades lower than a “C” as a bad grade and to me receiving that grade was a failure. On my This I Believe essay I was not familiar with the type of style and format it was suppose to be written and assumed I knew it. I had the confidence that I knew what to write despite, considering what the expectations were for the essay.…

Throughout my academic career, I have taken and been successful in a large number of English classes. In high school, my writing followed an academic format, mostly writing towards a prompt. Although I was able to gain writing practice, I never received a large amount of feedback that I could use to help myself in the future. Similarly, when I started college I practiced different forms of academic writing, structured around a prompt and focused on the end goal of a good grade. However, in college I was able to start gaining useful feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of my writing that I could apply to later assignments.…

In writing it is known to acquire both strengths and challenges especially when remaining on topic and not drifting away onto another topic. I have discovered that over some time now with being a full-time assistant teacher for an eigth grade math class that it is too tough with writing. In math we begin to implement a writing strategy (R.I.C.E.) for responding to short answer questioning. The strengths that I have as a writer is thinking beyond the topic and comparing it onside of reality. I consider myself a somewhat strong and creative writer when it involves a topic that grasps my attention and I can easily relate to.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…

After receiving my grade and feedback I realized my sentences were choppy and not well put together. When I submitted my paper the second time not only did I receive a better grade but also a better understanding of what my papers should look like and what the content should include. I really enjoyed writing this paper, because it allowed me to write about something I have a passion for. I really enjoy writing narratives, but I believe the easiest and best paper I wrote in this class would be essay two. This is when we chose an advertisement and analyzed the details about it.…

Final Exam: Self Evaluation Essay I personally can say that I have seen an improvement in my writing since my initial evaluation in the middle of the semester. During my first evaluation I was very confused with many of the general concepts the class held and it reflected in my writing. Answering the questions presented in the midterm evaluation and reviewing my first writing assignment Meta commentary pushed me to try to grasp a better understanding of assignments and ask for more helpful feedback that would benefit me in developing writing especially in the concept of methods and organization. Slowly and surely as the rest of the semester progressed forward I saw an improvement in my writing style and content.…

Self-Evaluation Essay Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot more than I thought throughout the semester in ENGL 1433. I began the course dreading reading and writing.
