Some teachers from high school were not capable of creating an atmosphere that was memorable. Most high school classes do not shape career plans or provide intellectual awareness. However, great teachers are capable of creating an environment where the information provided is beneficial and memorable. Great teachers work endlessly to provide a challenging class for their students. During my high school career, one teacher that created a successful and rewarding class was Mrs. Kaelber, who taught the accounting course at my high school. When teachers are deemed approachable it makes the class more successful because students are able to create a middle ground between the class and themselves. Moreover, Mrs. Kaelber always cared about her students’ well being. As a senior in high school, there were lots of decisions to make such as finding a college to attend to. Being the first person to go to a four-year university in my family, it was difficult to understand and approach everything that had to be done. Also, the guidance counselors were not much help either. Even though I had my parents’ assistance, Mrs. Kaelber was the individual who guided me to Monmouth University. She was able to explain many questions to me about colleges such as which business schools are better than others and how important SATs were. There are teachers who demand too much, which pushes away students. However, Mrs. Kaelber’s class was the perfect example of creating enough demand to make students work towards their goals. She expected her students to put in the effort to succeed in her course. As a result, students who thought the class was going to be a breeze left the course. However, there were students, like others, and myself who wanted to learn about accounting. Her class was one of the few classes that I took in high school, where I was able to learn a new subject that challenged me. The class always had quizzes, tests and long assignments that were difficult to most of the class. However, the amount of information learned in her class gave myself and others intellectual skills and a greater understand of the field of accounting. Throughout my college career, learning the material for accounting classes have so far been effortless. With a major GPA of 3.69, the positive correlation directly involves the accounting courses that I took in high school. The knowledge that was learned in high school has been able to make my journey receiving an accounting degree better than ever. Regarding the accounting course in high school, she always told me if I paid attention in class and did everything to my best ability, it would make me a better accountant for the future.
