Personal Narrative: My Leadership Purpose

Improved Essays
My leadership purpose is to encourage people into unity and teamwork, and to prevent them from feeling disappointed in case they face a failure which makes them embrace every challenge with hope and motivation. The lessons in the leadership class helped me understand why I have this leadership purpose statement and how I should act to implement my purpose. In other words, the lessons help me understand how I will implement my techniques to achieve my purpose as a leader. Above all, the lesson of “personality” helped me to articulate the purpose statement authentically. In addition, encouraging teamwork and unity, which is a part of the military culture, and encouraging this new idea into people will require the process of re-socialization for …show more content…
There are many reasons why. First of all, this lesson makes me realize that, every person needs the source of motivation to perform better; to figure that out, it is necessary to know each individual in the group to provide the source that fits their personality best. Besides that, I want to give an example from my own life which shows how I learned how to find the necessary motivation. I had some challenges in my life, such as my brain surgery that limited many of my dreams. I was disappointed, and did not know what to do because I was not allowed to service select any exciting communities. Despite that, I had the chance to come to the USNA. Especially in the leadership lessons, motivation in particular, I have learned that I should have always looked at the bright side, too. Instead of just focusing myself on the negative side of any experience, I have a larger point, and I know that finding the motivation has a great impact on a person’s life. The effect of this experience affected my personality, too, which ties back to my first example of personality class. As a youngster, I will remember what happened to me back in the high school, and I will remember that I almost had no chance to succeed; I will make the plebes see the potential inside themselves, by using what the motivation class taught me: motivation has the ability to reveal the whole potential inside every …show more content…
First of all, I am mainly focused on individuals, which makes me interested in being a squad leader for the first time when I have a chance to assume leadership responsibility. In addition, my first class year will be effective because of the development process that I created. In my life being a leader was something that I was required of from my mother and other role models, most other leaders. They always said that I had something special about me from my crissum and the way I carry myself. Through my life, I was told that the more people/friends you have the more distraction from the real propose and goals. Which I found out it is very true, therefore, I stayed to myself even though I had friends, the reason why was because I took little things that they did wrong and made sure I did not go through their footsteps. While learning and taking everything in I learned that people really don't want to see other's wins or advance in life.…

Once I finish up this Master’s degree program and take a few more supervisor based classes the only other thing I can think to do to improve my chances of getting the job are to participate in some interview practices and resume workshops. In order to achieve this goal I need to take more leadership and mentoring training courses that would help me as a future supervisor. I have learned so many things not to do from my current supervisor. “One of the worst situations that a leader can get into is to get all the facts wrong” (Clark, 2010). I have learned this first hand from a supervisor that does not like to listen.…

I hope I can do this research because I want to help reduce epileptic people’s struggles. I am particularly interested in neurology because I find the way the nervous system controls all the other systems fascinating. I like stimulating my mind and neurologists do this every day when they are trying to diagnose a disease or when they are trying to find the best way to treat a patient. I am an enthusiastic and committed individual who has a strong desire to become a doctor. I want to give back to my community and to be a good role model for my younger siblings.…

I expect that my followers will trust in my decisions, and that they will work as hard as they can when they have a duty to accomplish. My followers can expect that I will treat them all as equals. I will take into consideration everyone’s opinions, and my followers can expect that I will always choose the decision that is going to benefit the majority of the group. I would now define a leader as someone who guides a person or group of people to work toward a common goal, or even just a person that positively influences others. If I were to choose one skill that I want to continue growth in my leadership development it would be influencing others effectively and appropriately.…

Before entering ATC’s Social Work Assistance Program I felt disconnected from my previous career and very unsure of what I wanted to do with my future. I realized early on that I am driven by the need to help others and facilitate positive change around me. Yet, I felt those needs unfulfilled in my previous profession. Discovering social work, regardless of where it may lead me, peaked my interests in such a way that no other field really has. I knew I found something special during the first class because of Mrs. Watts’ ability to break down barriers and get her students to open up about their insecurities and really question why they were here.…

Why are we the way we are? Are we born with a set destiny and personality or can our environments shape us? In some classes, hearing the nature vs. nurture argument was quite common and I never gave it much thought until a close friend of mine showed me how much someone’s environment can change them for better and for worse, and unfortunately his environment has changed him for worse. No one is born into gang violence, they’re brought in, and saying I was concerned would be a major understatement, so I decided to try and intervene, and to some avail he is now trying to get out. With some positive nurture, someone can change drastically from letting greed rule their life to becoming a model citizen.…

Through this process we focused on what we wanted to represent as a team working together in the best interest of our students. In the end we developed a vision that is now a foundation for our success, because everyone will benefit from our accomplishments. If we are able to effectively collaborate, which is important to our vision, then we will be able to create challenging lessons for our students and make certain that we are meeting the need of all students and inspiring them for future experiences.
